Words on the Page: A Generative Writing Workshop

The Potter's House 

January—March 2024

​

Join Kristen Zory King at The Potter’s House for three fast-paced generative writing workshops to help shake you out of a creative rut and get words on the page. Throughout each ninety minute session, we will examine contemporary pieces around various themes and then generate our own work based on prompts and guided discussion. Writers are welcome to attend one session or all three and you do not need to be an experienced writer or poet to participate—beginners, journal-ers, and award winning creatives all welcome.

Creativity in Motion: Yoga and Journaling 

DC Bouldering Project 

Sunday, March 24 at 12:00pm

Join Kris at DC Bouldering Project on Sunday, 3/24 for a heart opening vinyasa flow and journaling session to welcome the equinox! In this 90 minute workshop, you will be led through breathwork, a vinyasa style flow, and guided journaling prompts, examining the transition from winter to spring via joyful movement, creative reflection, and intentional discussion. Please bring your yoga mat, a journal, and a writing utensil.

This spring, join writer, teaching artist and movement instructor Kristen Zory King on a poetry hike through Rock Creek Park and experience the joy of creativity in motion. Together, we'll wander through two(ish) miles of winding trails, stopping frequently to share poems with one another as well as to spend time in creative reflection and journaling.

Join Kris and the Friends of Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens for two summer journaling workshops. In each 90 minute session, you will be led through journaling prompts, guided discussion, and creative reflection, grounding yourself in community, gratitude, and as the poet Rumi declared, the "hundreds of ways to kneel and kiss the ground." This workshop is free and open to all.
